One of New Zealand’s most beloved female artists, Misery (Tanja Jade McMillan), has again collaborated with BLUNT umbrellas off the back of a hugely successful partnership in 2019.
Inspired by Lunar New Year and with visual reference to Tanja’s Chinese heritage, the umbrella features bright white rabbits relaxing and skipping over calm flowing waters as a nod to the Year of the Water Rabbit in 2023.
True to her signature style the design includes a black canopy with bright pops of colour bringing to life the rabbits, goldfish and vibrant blossoming Lotus flowers amongst the flowing waters, creating a striking design for the new year.
Of her design Tanja says, ‘I love the Chinese symbology around rabbits, they are peaceful souls representing mercy, beauty, elegance and sensitivity. There are a few iconic Misery Carrot and Daikon characters hiding around the umbrella also adding a bit of fun and humour to the design.’
